subdomain mapping

I want to connect a subdomain to a squarespace website. Does Firebase provides provider supports alternate subdomains ?

From Squarespace help: "A subdomain is an extension of your domain name that forwards to your site. The most common subdomain is "www," as in www.yourdomain.com. If your domain provider supports alternate subdomains, you can also use a subdomain like blog.yourdomain.com, where the subdomain is "blog," to redirect to your site. The process of connecting a domain or subdomain to your site is also called mapping."

Firebase Hosting will work on any domain or subdomain so long as you set up the DNS records properly (see the custom domain guide). Similarly, it's definitely not a problem to point a subdomain to Squarespace if you are pointing your apex domain to Firebase Hosting.

Unfortunately how exactly DNS records get edited varies quite a bit from provider to provider, so it's tough to give exact directions. If you run into trouble, feel free to reach out to firebase...@google.com with specific questions.

Ideally I would like to use Firebase for my hosting and attach squarespace either to a subdomain or to a url path (mydomain.com\mysite)

Are you saying it should just work ? are there any instructions for this situation ?

To attach Squarespace to a subdomain won't be any problem, but to attach it at a path prefix is not going to be possible. What you will do is follow the normal Firebase Hosting custom domain setup and then separately follow any guide Squarespace provides for adding a custom domain (on the subdomain of your choosing).
