We have pushlish our app supporting app indexing in the Google Play Store several weeks ago. Meanwhile in our website, we put android-app://<package_name>/scheme_path deep link in the html header several days ago. But still now, we try to search keyworks in chrome and google search, and click the search result, it cannot jump to our android app but our mobile website.

Our app's package name is "com.qiyi.video",  and in large html pages we put the app indexing tag, for example

http://m.iqiyi.com/v_19rr7lg1b0.html

this is how html looks

however, in google search console, we look at crawl status, it take no effect. and we try to use the Fetch as Google tool to crawl our android app page. When upload our app, we use the deep link, it can crawl the correct page. But when choose the Google Play apk, it report a crawle error such as URI unsupported or Internal error. we look at the detail error, and find the apk version is 8.3 not the lastest version in Google Play. Our lastest app version is 8.7.0。

Could any google engineer tell we why the search console cannot fetch the lastest app in Google Play Store? Why the google app indexing not working for our app.

Futhermore, our mobile home site "http://m.iqiyi.com/" with app indexing works well. But our other pages with app indexing tag still not work.

Is there other reason for google search spiders why build connection with our website page and android app page?

You need to set an intent handler for the links in your manifest. We also recommend using app links, not the old android-app:// approach. Please follow the guide in the Firebase docs: https://firebase.google.com/docs/app-indexing/android/public-content
