Can't get custom domain to verify

I can't get my custom domain to verify. It's been nearly 20 hours, but your documentation says "Depending on your domain provider, this verification step may be instant or it may take an hour or more." I'm using Google domains.

Any updates on your capacity issues? Firebase has now been trying to verify my domain for 36 hours.

Are there any problems with the domain provisioning system at the moment? I believe I've set mine up correctly but it's timed out after 48 hours. I've just requested again.
