This new charger is 4 times more powerful than mine and 2 times more that the bigger charger currently sold.

It will be over $1,000

I want to get one that I can stow in my O2 compartment. Then I can recharge from 120 volt outlets after XC one way trips.

It still is pretty big and heavy.

As per the revised manual, this requires a 20A minimum rated circuit from the 110V grid. That's a lot of Amps that can seriously heat (overheat) undersized line wires. This is definitely not to be used with standard 110V outlets that have not been beefed up to 20A-minimum rating (wall lines and breakers), and certainly not with extension cords rated for less than that. For safe operation, I would think more in terms of the outlets and line sizes that are similar to the 30A circuits and cords that are now typical for RV hookups.

My 110/220 power converter plus two 600w chargers pull 18 amps at peak charge (measured at the outlet)
I noticed this charger is a 2300w unit that is reduced to 2000w in this application.
It would be good to see what the actual amp draw is.
Still 20 amp protection in both cases though.

Dear FES owners,

See section 3.1 of FES KOP 2300 charger manual.

3.1 Mains current limiter
The mains current is limited to max. 13 A for 230 V systems and to max. 16 A for 120 V
systems. FES KOP2300 automatically detects the mains voltage.
Comment: For 230 V mains voltage and full output power the charger needs approx. 10.5
A from the socket. At low mains voltage, the mains current would increase at the same
power, but this would be reduced to max. 13 A. In the short term, the current can also be
somewhat higher than 13 A in the case of very fast mains voltage fluctuations.
If the mains voltage drops below approx. 90 VAC, the KOP2300 charger is switched off.
After the mains voltage rises again, the charging is restarted where it was interrupted.

Regards,

Luka
