Dear Renaud,

Thank you for FeResPost it is looking incredibly useful.

I am currently carrying out just a simple test of some beams in NASTRAN (Patran 2010) with element force results.

When the beam elements are CBEAMs I can load the OP2 and read results however when I switch to CBAR elements I get the error 'skipping ELETYPE 100' and no results are loaded.
Files attached.

Any ideas?
It is not too critical, I can use CBEAM elements however I am planning on running models with ~1m elements and the solution takes a bit longer.

Many thanks,
Tristan

Resolved.
The issue was addition of station points to the CBAR elements.
Removing them solved the problem.

Hello Tristan,

I quickly reviewed Nastran Quick Referrence Guide. I presume you have been using the CBARAO bulk card... I have been using MSC Nastran for more than 20 years, but I never used CBARAO cards and I was not even aware it is possible to add intermediate stations to CBAR elements.

I will have a look one of these days.

Thank you for the information,

Renaud

Renaud,

If I recall correctly, the CBAR-100 element will be created if any of your subcases reference a PLOAD1 card (bar/beam pressure) and it's a static solution.  If I'm not sure if the CBARAO has this same effect.

Steve

Thanks Renauld, Steve,
PATRAN has input for CBAR 'stations' but I haven't checked what gets written in the BDF.
I'm new to NASTRAN so I dont know my way around BDFs particularly well so I'm just randomly changing settings in PATRAN most of the time.

Removing beam (pressure) loading does the trick.

Hello Steve, Tristan,

Thank you for the information. I have read yesterday the DMAP programmer guide, and I have the feeling that the reading of CBAR-100 element results might be a little tricky in FeResPost because the values are associated to a "real" position in the element and not an "integer" one. So I will put the support of CBAR-100 element in my list of "things to do", but it is not my first priority. (I am now working on the composite part.)

but I will work on it.

Renaud
