Has anyone used Home Assistant?

This is a widely used, locally hosted, program that lets you control your IoT devices. It's local, so no cloud service either selling your information, or going offline when the power/internet goes out.

In particular, there appears to be a good way to install it under Proxmox, which is what I'd do. Local hosted, with the ability to automate controls for lights, heating, water leak alarms, anti-raccoon defenses. There's been a number of arsTechnica articles recently, and it looked interesting.

Regarding "cloud solutions" (Alexa, google whatever, Siri, even my Tesla), my neighbor found the issue of using a cloud app to control his powerwall. When the power goes out, so does Comcast usually. So his powerwall is providing power, but there's no way to determine how much is left, because that's all thru the app.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone had played with Home Assistant

I use it under Proxmox. Allocate twice as much ram for the vm that they recommend.
