Hello,

I am Jane, a postdoc at the University of South Florida. I recently started using the FED3 system and ran a test in 'Free Feeding' mode using the standard library code.

The devices generally worked well, but I noticed irregular time intervals in the output CSV file (attached). For exmaple, between 17:33:55 and 18:09:47 on 11/27/2025, the timestamps appear inconsistent. Is this variable sampling rate normal for the device, or does it indicate a logging issue?

Thanks,
Jane

Hi Jane!
The device logs a row of data every time an event (a poke or pellet) occurs. So it is expected that the time between samples will be variable.  You can "bin" the data into regular bins using the FED3VIZ program or your own analysis code.
Best, -Lex
