Dear all

I have a few Smokeview questions, which I couldn't solve with the manual.

In the 3D plot, you can visualize on 4 planes: x,y,z and a freely rotatable plane centered in the volume.
- I know how to navigate the x, y and z-plane, but it is not clear to me how to change the rotating plane? Sometimes it works just by clicking and dragging, but usually I end up dragging the whole model. Is there a trick?
- I can show/hide the x,y and z-planes using x,y and z-keys, but how do I hide the rotating plane?
- I can edit the perspective/angle with e, and that allows me to drag the view so that I am looking straight at the x or the y directions. Is there a trick to get an instant top view?
- Can I tell Smokeview, I want a 2D-Contour plot for x = 30 or z = 2.5?

Thanks!

Sarah

Double click and drag to rotate arbitrarily oriented plane. Press w to show/hide this plane. there is a dialog box for controlling view of this plane. Check manual for menu location or hunt around under Dialogs menu

Thanks, that helped.

I still have trouble rotating the viewpoint, so that I have a top view of the scene with clean straight edges (like in Figure 7.1 with the overhead view). I played around with keyframes and Cartesian view directions, but don't really get if that is the way to go and how to use it.

Rotate view to get close to the view you want then type ! or ~ to snap view to nearest 45 deg. Check appendix c for right key code.
