Hi,
When I run a simulation on linux cluster I get the following error

ERROR: N_CELLS_MAX should be at least   999 for surface SAMPLE (MPI Process:  4, CHID: model_20220906)

while it work fine on local computer with windows. Could you help please?

BR,
Hosien

Dear Randy,
I made a smaller model but I don't get that error now. Can I send the initial model?

Please simplify you case one step at a time until you figure out where the problem lies.  That is what I would have to do.

N_CELLS_MAX is the number of nodes used in the solid phase heat conduction routine. Do you have a SURF line with a very thick solid, or a solid that requires more than 1000 internal points?

the thickness is 3.0E-3. Sorry, I am not sure what do you mean by internal points. Please find attached the file. It crashes at t=3.98s and please see below the error:

What version of FDS are you using?

Also, on your linux cluster, post the results of the command

lscpu

I ran your case two ways. First, I compiled with the Intel Fortran compiler and Intel MPI library:

 Fire Dynamics Simulator

 Current Date     : October  5, 2022  14:29:24
 Revision         : FDS6.7.9-550-g44843fa-master
 Revision Date    : Mon Oct 3 13:13:15 2022 -0400
 Compiler         : ifort version 2021.7.0
 Compilation Date : Oct 03, 2022 16:55:39

MPI Enabled;    Number of MPI Processes:      12
 OpenMP Disabled

 MPI version: 3.1
MPI library version: Intel(R) MPI Library 2021.7 for Linux* OS

Then I compiled with Gnu Fortran and the OpenMPI library.

 Fire Dynamics Simulator

 Current Date     : October  5, 2022  13:13:47
 Revision         : FDS6.7.9-554-gfa138f40d-master

 Compiler         : Gnu gfortran 9.3.1
 Compilation Date : Oct 05, 2022  13:04:36

MPI Enabled;    Number of MPI Processes:      12
OpenMP Enabled; Number of OpenMP Threads:      1

 MPI version: 3.1
MPI library version: Open MPI v4.0.3, package: Open MPI gfo...@blaze.el.nist.gov Distribution, ident: 4.0.3, repo rev: v4.0.3, Mar 03, 2020

Thank you so much. So I should check the compilation.

Also, make sure you add this line in your ~/.bashrc environment configuration file:

# Stack memory size limit:
ulimit -s unlimited

log off and back in to have this change. Strange behavior can happen if you overrun the default stack memory.

Also, try compiling and db (debug) mode and let the code run overnight.
