Hi folks
This winter we will again maintain a weekly schedule of visits to the dock and shoreline racks through the first week of April to help ensure all boats and equipment remain properly racked and in good shape. Please review the attached sheet and send me an email indicating which weeks you would be willing to head to the rez for this purpose. Please send your selected dates ONLY TO ME so that the whole club is not bombarded with emails. Within a couple of weeks I will send out a revised spreadsheet with the names of the persons covering each week.
SCOPE OF WORK FOR INSPECTIONS:
1./ We will do this in pairs because if it is necessary to re-position a boat or other heavy object, we will need a buddy to assist. In the event that your inspection turns up the need for more than two people to move something, let me know and I can mobilize the number of people needed. Whomever you are paired with, you can coordinate the date and time to meet at the dock.
2./ When you complete an inspection, drop me a line to confirm this and, in the event that all was not in order, indicate what tasks were completed or what repairs or work remains to be done;
3./ Check each and every boat to ensure it is secure. Re-strap as needed. Two straps per boat with at least one strap looped around a vertical bar.
4./ Inspection includes hillside racks, racks behind the bathhouse and racks on our floating dock.
5./ Check various boxes and containers positioned on the docks to ensure they are secure;
6./ Check paddles to ensure they are secure
Typically two persons can complete the inspection in 45 minutes or less. I will send a reminder each week of who is responsible for that week’s inspection.
Please get back to me with an email indicating which week(s) you would like to cover.
Thanks much! Dan

Hey everybody. Attached is the updated schedule for inspections. Thanks to all who have volunteered.
Julie D, Lisa C and Sarah: Please take a look at the available weeks and let me know if you can take any of those. We need one or two people for weeks of 19 March, 26 March and 2 April.
Eric S and Steve D, you guys are up for this week (week of 4 December). Please communicate between yourselves to arrange a date and time.
Yesterday, Mercedes and I completed the inspection for week of 27 November. It took us 45 minutes. Last week’s high winds demonstrated what they can do! We repositioned one double on a rack on the dock (no apparent damage to the boat) and re-strapped six or so boats. The double would not have fallen (fortunately it fell off the lowest rack) if it had been tied to a vertical post. So whenever possible, wrap the straps around a vertical post.
GATE TO INLET: The gate now has a second lock (key lock) on it. So I believe we will all have to park outside the lot and walk to the racks.
Thanks to all. Dan Chilson

No. They really should be secured to a vertical post. Might be an issue of a lack of straps that are long enough. I will buy some more straps and put them in the cabinet.
Kathy and Chris, you are up for this week’s (week of 11 Dec) inspection. Per Eric’s comment, please strap the boats on the West side are strapped to a vertical beam.
Thanks. Dan

Hi folks

Please review the attached sheet and send me an email indicating which weeks you would be willing to head to the rez for this purpose. Please send your selected dates ONLY TO ME so that the whole club is not bombarded with emails. Within a couple of weeks I will send out a revised spreadsheet with the names of the persons covering each week. You and your partner (we like to do this in pairs) can go up to the rez any time during the week that you volunteer for.
CHANGES TO THIS YEAR’s PROCEDURE: Please provide me with the license number and the make and model of the vehicle that you will drive to Inlet Bay. We must park in the small lot outside the metal entry gate to Inlet Bay. We are not allowed to open that gate and enter that main parking area until the rangers open Inlet Bay and the reservoir in the Spring. At our meeting with the rangers last week they requested that I give them an update as to the names of the persons going up each week, along with the license number / make and model of the vehicle(s). They also asked that during our visit for the inspection, we place a sign on our dashboard indicating “Fort Collins Rowing Assn – Dock / Boat Inspection”. Please print the attached and place it on your dash (along with your park pass) when you go to the rez.
Whomever you are paired with, you can coordinate the date and time to meet at the dock or ride share.
2./ When you complete an inspection, drop me a line to confirm this and, in the event that all was not in order, indicate what tasks were completed or what repairs or work remains to be done;
3./ Check each and every boat to ensure it is secure. Re-strap as needed. Two straps per boat and each should be looped around a vertical bar. We have spare straps in the locker on the dock.
4./ Inspection includes hillside racks, racks behind the bathhouse and racks, shed and containers on our floating dock.
5./ Check various boxes and containers positioned on the docks to ensure they are secure.
6./ Check paddles to ensure they are secure.
Typically two persons can complete the inspection in 45 minutes or less. I will send a reminder each week of who is responsible for that week’s inspection.
Please get back to me with an email indicating which week(s) you would like to cover.
Thanks much! Dan
Folks
Only 4 people have signed up for inspections so far and we need A BUNCH MORE to step up to get the job done.
Please see attached and give me dates on which you can do inspections ASAP. Then I will come back to you to confirm your dates. REPLY TO ME ONLY.
We did have damage to the Alden during this week’s high winds so please understand that these inspections serve a purpose and we can’t just leave it to a handful of good citizens to do this.
Thank you.
Happy New Year! Dan
Way to step up folks!
Attached is an updated schedule. We now have coverage through the week of 18 February. In early February I will send out a new request to fill in through early April.
In the meantime, week to week I will send a reminder to the persons who are scheduled for that particular week.
Thanks much and all the best for 2024!
