[Blue Range] Ashley Steele

Dear fellow residents,

 

In this time of uncertainty and anxiety, it is with regret that I announce the passing of a stalwart of the Blue Range community, Ashley Steele.

 

Ashley passed away early this morning in Grenada after having been ailing for a while.

 

For those of you - myself included - who may not know Ashley, he was a founding member of the BRA back in the 80's and was the force behind many of the amenities and facilities which we as a community enjoy today here in Blue Range. He contributed a tremendous amount of his time and resources to ensure that this community was organized and maintained and was a leader, galvanizing the support of other residents.

 

In subsequent years, Ashley 'migrated' to Grenada for work and ultimately, retirement.

 

The Blue Range Association extends our deepest and sincerest condolences to his wife, Helen, and to their sons and family, and wish them strength in these times as they grieve their loss.

 

For those of you who would have interacted with Ashley, feel free to share your stories of a man dedicated to the betterment and upliftment of Blue Range.

 

May he rest in peace.

We must defend our brother. Who is this complainant, Chenoia Marquis? What interview is he referring to that is posted on FOBA's site? What are the specific acts of racism is he referring to. He must be misconstruing or misinterpreting or misrepresenting something Stephen said.

We all know that Stephen Broadbridge is by no stretch of the imagination a racist. He is very passionate towards his causes and fearlessly outspoken, even publicly and especially since his mother was murdered in cold blood and he has not been able to experience any justice, But racist, he is not. I can only sympathise, as I am unable to empathise and imagine how he must feel. My heart goes out to him and he really doesn't need this additional persecution.

Class of 84 Committee Admin buddies, Raymond Samms, Stephen Harris, Stephen De Gannes, Joseph Chin Cheong, Marlon Hoo Fatt, do/say something to address this please!

Stephen Broadbridge, your reaction is perfectly understandable, but please don't go ballistic, at least not yet.

The complaint was about a 2013 interview on the FOBA site....the interview itself is harmless but the person was against FOBA having it up as it indicated a show of support for Stephen.

FOBA has already made the decision to not remove the interview. We dont have time to take on that kinda crap. And i just spoke to Stephen to clarify the email context and our stance on it.

btw.....Stephen looking for a litigation lawyer to put some wood on some ppl who have made false accusations on fb. so if u guys know anybody...leggo beast.

That is a terrific interview. it certainly captures Stephen in full character of his natural self. I was reading it in my mind and hearing his voice and all his intonations and sense of humor,. which I appreciate very much, as an ardent aspiring novice comedian myself.

The veritable Katmandu Mountain man he is an Environmentalist at heart, that Broadbridge fella. I like how he mentioned deceased buddies like David Borely and Simon Farrell too. The most he did in his candid and frank manner was to knock the T&T education system. Saw and heard absolutely no racism there. So it must be a Social Media troll that got into a heated argument or debate with him and could handle Stephen's colourful, picong-ridden response, filled with wrong spelling, of course and is trying to spite, embarrass and humiliate him among his peers.

Stephen, don't fall for that, we certainly won't, we have your back buddy. keep on trucking bro'and doing what you do best! Don't let no one steal your joy! They are most likely jealous. Proud to know and be associated with you.

The issue the person had was not with the interview itself. It was the fact that foba had an interview on its website with an "alleged racist". She thinks we should not associate ourselves with him at all. She probably googled stephen and came across the interview. 

We obviously not taking her on.

If Stephen Broadbridge is a racist then we are truly lost in this new normal of mob rules. I happen to have seen the posts on Facebook.

The new norm is to make an argument and if someone does not agree they are racist...Stephen has very strong convictions and does not mix his words...but a racist he is most definitely NOT and anyone who says so is either lying or has another agenda.

He is a brave proponent of many issues plaguing Trinidad and a promoter of much that is good in Trinidad & Tobago.
