Instead of writing "we'll carry you in", which no disabled can't-walker wants, nor do we want to have to wait for some expert to work the special elevator or whatever, why not rent a giant porta-potty & have it at the outside door near the ramp?

This worked at one singing I recently went to.

I personally pay out of pocket to rent a small - meaning not wheelchair accessible - porta potty for some events here in East Texas. It’s almost $200. A handicap accessible one can be up to $400. For some that’s a lot of money, and at some of these small singings being advertised - to include some I believe you’re referencing - there aren’t many doing the work, nor are they well-to do. Which is likely why some get a little bristly at certain recent rather impolite e-mails making demands rather than asking nicely and understanding the limitations of some singing options. : ) Those e-mails have prompted some of the “we’ll carry you in” comments…

It is unfortunate that some singings aren’t able to accommodate everyone, but it doesn’t follow that they are held by inhospitable people who are inconsiderate of the needs and desires of others.

Here in east Texas we have carried people inside non-accessible buildings because that’s the only option and they want to attend. And for those people, we’re happy to do all we can even if we can’t provide a $400 porta potty. For those who don’t want that, we hope they’ll come sing at our more accessible venues and we’ll show them all the hospitality we can muster. I suspect those referenced in your e-mail with the special elevators and etc. feel the same. : )

Both the special-elevator singings I've been to would not let any except special people operate them, because we normals have broken them.

I wound up climbing stairs very slowly, only way I can these days.

I also climbed at the singing that had a chair-lift but couldn't find the key for it.

When you gotta go, you don't wanna haveta wait.

Maybe take up a big-porta-potty collection.  I'd pay.  Even though I'm not in a wheelchair *yet*.
