Sparky,
I've been very happy with my AntiSplat oil separators,
My previous airplane had 1600 hours on the engine, and my oil consumption was always VERY low on the IO-390.
I maybe cleaned the airplane's white belly 2-3 times a year, and that was due in part with all the smoke oil we throw out in formation.
My overflow hose from the AntiSplat was directed to drip just above the exhaust pipe to vaporize the fluid as it leaves the airplane.
I inspected the system for coking during each condition inspection, but rarely saw evidence of accumulation.
My new airplane has all-things AntiSplat, including the oil separator. The builder plumbed the overflow directly into the exhaust pipe (which I DON'T recommend). But he did install AntiSplat's check valve in the line to avoid clogging.
So far, so good. But I'm inspecting the system at every oil change now.
Just my two cents. If you read the VAF posts, this begins to sound a lot like "Primer Wars" discussions.
