Allowing the solver to add/remove bars

Hi all--

I'm making a diagramless cryptic that has both bars and blocks.  I'd like to give the solver the ability to add/remove bars and blocks as they go.  Does anyone know how to do this for bars?  I know I can fake blocks by changing cellColour to 'black' and this works about perfectly.

For blocks, the spacebar lets you toggle!

I can add similar functionality for bars too, perhaps? What's your timeline?
