Japan now has the most powerful computer in the world

Yesterday the new supercomputer rankings were released and for the first time Japan has the fastest computer on earth, it's called "Fugaku" and it's 2.8 times faster than the previous champion, the "Summit" supercomputer in the USA. It's also the first time ever that the same computer was ranked number one on four different test workloads, including double precision and reduced precision calculations that are used for many Machine Learning and AI applications.

In a related story, today the President of the USA signed an executive order that would block US computer companies from bringing foreign computer engineers and scientists into the country so they can work for them.
