HI All, 

Yes it's been awhile! We have all been busy surviving and happy to have our diversions, taking care of our cars.

Hopefully this new year will bring some joy to all of us.

My black 64 has been garaged and not seen much street action lately. I used to drive it daily to work but since I am now retired, I have been spending more time with my new grandchildren. I am hoping my oldest grandson will be able to take over the care of my 64 someday soon! He will be the 4th generation to own and drive our family heirloom, bought by my father, the last car he purchased when he retired in 1964.

I've done a lot of modifications to my Slant in my trusty 65 Valiant in the last couple years, when it gets warmer I'll post some pics to share with ya'll

I'll also echo what most of ya have been saying... I might be an IT guy and do all things technology, but I still enjoy "old-fashion" email. I don't have facebook and don't plan to ever create one.

I'm still here, still racing. I started up messing with dirt bike again in 2017, after a 36 year lay off from throwing myself into the

ground, or trees, off of a motorcycle.  The classics are all down until I can raise funds (and the economic confidence to spend 

on the cars instead of living expenses, I figure about another 2 years. if the economy holds together).  I may start poking at

the '66 Dart 270 Vintage A/Sedan when it warms up later this year. 

Meanwhile I've kept my hand in, and my SCCA License active, flogging a rented GT/Pinto at Summit Point once or twice

a year. Video from my most recent trip to Summit Point in October, Sunday's Group 1, Small Bore, Feature Race at the October

2025 Washington DC Region SCCA Road Racing MARRS on the Summit Point main circuit.

Driving a GT-Pinto is always "engaging", but it's doubly so on a cool rainy Sunday morning on elderly rain tires when it's been

11 months since your last race. For some reason the camera decided to split the video right as I'm waved past the pace car

during a full course yellow for a clean-up at the bottom of the Chute (turn 4 exit/turn 5 entry).  While I seem slow, that's a function

of the tires, conditions, and my main goal of JUST FINISHING to get my laps in for my license, I Did set fast lap for the session in

GT-Pinto, but that wasn't enough to overtake the guy I was renting from, Bruce Shelton, as he'd qualified way ahead of me in the

dry on Saturday.

The guy with the beard is my buddy Dave Rebhein (who's paper route I took over to finance the RM and all '77-'79 racing). 
The Oriental lady is Min Nok , who was my Dad's interpreter when he was working in SE Asia in '70 & '71 with USAID, She
spoke  English, French, Vietnamese, Thai, and some Khmer.   In late '74 she came and stayed with us for a year while she
got processed and found a job (great cook!).  She was providing support as Dad did outreach for the creation of the USIP;

for which he was the Director of the grassroots campaign. He was coming from a speaking engagement and had his camera

with him.

170 was Mike Sullivan's MAMA 100cc/125cc Expert number, I loaned the bike to him for testing in May of '77; got some great

feed-back on set-up and tuning.

I took my first MX gate drop in 39 years in August of '18, did another in 19, and ran the first 10 mile loop of the 1.5 hour SXCS

Hangover Hare Scrambles Jan 5th of '20; I'd had what was probably Covid-19 from Oct 28th to Dec 6th of '19, so I was a little

out of shape for the 1.5 hour cross country race - especially as it had rained 2" on Thursday and Friday nights then the temp

dropped to 18F before the 11:00 Am Saturday start time, nether my almost 60 year old carcass nor my 43 year old bike was

really prepared for that.  I had a good start, but fell off about 25 times in that first 10 mile lap and was just DONE after riding

thought the timing sensor on the MX track at Wicomico MD and back around to where the course dropped back into the woods. 

I looked into that slightly shaded entry back into that brown hell, and decided discretion was the better part of living another

day.  =8^D   It surprised the F-Heck out of me when I looked up the results and found out I was leading the vintage class by over

30 seconds when I went through the timing sensor, I ended up being scored 8th! There was some attrition on that first lap...
Only a few practice rides since then as coverage for my disabled daughter, Marianne, has been spotty, and it's a 1.5 to 2.5

hour drive to places to ride.

Hi all I’ve been a member to this site for a long time and have gotten a lot of great info. I have a big problem I’m hoping someone can help with. I have a 65 signet with a 273 I rebuilt the engine put it back together and was getting oil mixed with the antifreeze. After taking engine back out and inspecting oil passage I found a small rotted out spot into water jacket. Does anyone know if this is fixable or not. Any insight would be greatly appreciated I already have &4000 into the rebuild.

Good Morning All,

I have a radiator leak in my '64 Barracuda. The Last time I replaced the radiator I went with a generic radiator due to cost. I still have the original radiator boxed. Now that I need to replace it again my dilemma is; Due I now recore the original or go with an aluminum for cost efficiency again What are your thoughts?

I have a similar situation.20 years ago I spend a bunch of money to have a 273 rebuilt. All kinds of problems with it with the install. The oil plugs weren’t installed. The one that got me was the one beside the distributor INSIDE the engine. Once I got all that sorted out, after about a year, I started getting water in the oil. I pulled it and just happened to find an engine that ran and I intended to tear it down and see what the problem was. I’m finally back to that point. I always thought it was the gasket where the water passes through the front cover. This makes me wonder if there could be a casting flaw. I’m curious what you find. Send some pictures

I’m separating this from Sam’s so it’s not convoluted.

I’ve had fun messing with the original radiator and I’ve also experienced custom and generic aluminum radiators. If you live near a radiator place, take the original there and have them repair it. It will be good as new and you won’t have to worry about it. Worrying about whether this is going to keep occurring has to be worth something so account for that in the cost benefit analysis. 

That said, a well built aluminum is what I have and it’s also headache free. I have landed with Griffin as a reliable source. I doubt they have a stock size to fit the barracuda and custom costs extra.

In my opinion, aluminum radiators are the better option these days. The current radiators have larger water passages, more fins, and better cooling capabilities. I went with a Cold Case radiator for my '64 Barracuda and I'm happy with it. The only downside is that it is a bit thicker than the original.

I got my aluminum radiator from https://www.ebay.com/usr/champion_cooling_discount_radiators for my 64 Valiant slant 6 in 2020. It fit like a glove and I have had NO problems with it, except maybe it works too good.  The engine runs a bit cooler than before. The price, then,  was quite reasonable. Hope this helps.
