Has anyone with bucket seats found a good console type thing to go between the seats? Something for storage and or cup holders. It seemed like a simple want until I started looking. I only have about 7.5” between my seats and that is a limiting factor.

Daryl,

I have a console shell that was for a automatic, but it is just a shell and no mechanical parts

What does that look like?
I have a four speed on the floor now (was three on the tree originally). So I am pretty naive to the automatic experience.

I put some feet on the front to span the floor level difference.  It adds nice cup holders and a sliding center area.  I can take some pictures I couldn't find any quickly.

Thanks Menko.

I just remeasured and the absolute max I have between the seats is 8” so 8.5 won’t fit. That’s where I’m up against it.

To add some info, I have bmw seats in my car so not stock. Kinda curious how much space is between stock seats.

I'll take some measurements tonight.  It is a close fit, but I'll give you a real world measurement.  When you measure the 8" is there a taper so the seats are spaced a little farther apart as they go towards the base?  I feel like it would hit the bolsters on the stock seats if I lifted it straight up, but because its lower down the taper to the base of the seat allows it to fit.

I'll get you a few data points and maybe you can find something similar that' a little narrower for your setup.

Thank you

8” pushing on the seat bolsters. The most limiting thing is the seat belt female end which is interior to the seat itself. The “real” gap is 7.5” and it’s fairly consistent for the length of the seat. And then the shifter isn’t far from the seat nor is it centered in line with the gap.

Daryl,

this one is correct for a 66 and later console (also used in Dusters) but the weight will cost more to ship than the ones Menko posted.  let me know if you are still interested.

Thanks John but I don’t think that will work with my shifter.

I decided to make my own out of upholstery foam (and a couple of pieces
of wood for stability.) It probably should be upholstered, and maybe
I'll get around to it some day. It's stable - holds 6 drinks with no
problem, and flexible so it can be shoved around a bit. Storage in two
places as well. It easily survived a Route 66 trip!

The word “foam” and what I see are not meshing easily. Is that like squishable foam or more like styrofoam? It looks nice and also seems approachable.

So there’s a wood buck type thing underneath?

It is the 'squishable' foam; I think it's 1/2" thick. There are only 4
pieces of wood in there for stability - you can see where the deck
screws are. The only place it is attached with one bolt is where it
meets the underside of the dash. So it is light and can be removed with
that one bolt and a couple of wires.

Oh - and I started with a bunch of cardboard pieces, scissors and box
cutters, and masking tape...until I got it mostly right.

I’m thoroughly engaged with this. And the cup holders are what exactly?

From ebay, I think! Lots of options. I have two sizes. Even the large
size wasn't big enough for my largest water bottle, but I can pull the
cupholder out and simply use the hole in the foam to hold my bottle!

Thank you. Just have to do it I guess.

Nice seats btw.
