I live within the traditional homeland of the Ampinefu Band of Kalapuya.  Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya …Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations at either Grand Ronde or Siletz. Today, the Kalapuya live on tribal lands or tribal-ceded lands throughout the region. Many Kalapuya are active members of the sovereign nations of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde or the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. Kalapuya culture is alive.

Hello all,

I am terribly sorry, but I cannot attend today’s meeting due to a personal matter. I know it’s only quarterly, but I just can’t make it.

As for the section on Resilient Food & Ag System, I do have some updates. As I shared before, we convened a very small group to explore the current conditions & framework of local food/ag. Soon after, the County’s Environment & Natural Resources Advisory Committee (ENRAC) held a meeting/forum where a rep from Oregon Agricultural Trust (OAT) presented on their efforts to reach out to farmers/landowners to explore selling development rights to ensure local farms are preserved into the future. ENRAC meets on Monday. Once I hear their thoughts on next steps, I will reach out to the original group to reconnect & explore their next steps. In addition, I had an impromptu conversation with Commissioner Augerot, and she is very interested to see where this goes. Please email me with any questions, and again my sincere apologies.

Sean
