What "Maintain Same Rate Throughout Sales Cycle" affect (Sales -> Settings -> Sale Setting")

Dear Team,

We thought if checked, it will be: say, the item price is 20, when create a sale order, the price is 20(not matter item price is adjusted to 25 or not).

However, seems not..., same also happens, maintain same purchase rate...

Please help me understand this.

The item rate entered in the Sales Order is validated in the succeeding transactions like Delivery Note and Sales Invoice. By default system doesn't allow changing item rate. If user does so, system throws validation.

Option of "Maintain same rate throughout sales cycle" lets user customize this validation. If this option is unchecked, then said validation will be bypassed, and user will be able to make Delivery Note and Invoice at different rate than in Sales Order.

Same applies to the purchase cycle as well.
