CHanging STATE Field Width and type

I want to change from Small Text to Select but it does not allow this

Also I am trying to adjust the size of the Box for state as it is very large and we only need max 3 chars.

However, when I change the WIDTH parameter in the form it seems to have no effect on it

Width is not validated, you can raise an issue for this at https://github.com/frappe/erpnext/issues
