I was thinking of a way to findout say aluminium angles full lengths and cut pieces we have in stock seprately.
My purchasing UoM is lengths. Conversion rate is 12 and UoM after conversion is foot.
I am planning to name a new warehouse for cut pieces.
When  we issue  say a 12ft length to Work-In-Progress wearhouse, if the production needs only 8ft I intend to transfer balance 4 ft to this cut-piece warehhouse..
My 1st question is, whether it is an acceptable workaround?
My next question is whether this will effect the "Minimum Stock Level"  and auto raising of Purchase Orders.
Minimum Stock Level has to be limited only to Main Stores but not to Cut-pieces warehouse (because cut-piece warehouse can accumulate 1000ft of aluminium angles but may not be able to fullfill the requirement of one 12ft full lenth of angle without a joint).

Hello Jaliya,

As per this workflow, you should transfer minimum 12 feet of Aluminium Angle in Work in Progress Warehouse. Whereas BOM will have only 8 feet as required qty. System allows transferring more quantity than mentioned in BOM. Hence your user should manually edit quantity for an item from 8 feet to 12 feet in Material Transfer entry.

In the update finish goods entry, only 8 feet of Aluminium Angle will be consumed, as mentioned in the BOM. Rest 4 feet will remain in the WIP warehouse, from where you can transfer it to Cut Pieces Warehouse.

Re-order Level:

You can define warehouse-wise re-order level in the item master. Instead of defining re-order level in the item's parent field, you should add row in the re-order level's table and define re-order level for each warehouse.
