Translations of Data Entries

Dear Crowd,
ERPNext is a typical candidate for SMEs operating in, for instance, emerging economies that are not uncommonly characterised by significant language barriers. Take, for instance, Thailand or Vietnam. You may have a foreign management team and local middle management (kind of bi-lingual), plus workers (national language, only), and all are going to work on the same system.
Assuming that we had a working translation of ERPNext into ภาษาไทย (Thai) or Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese), the respective users would still have to translate each data entry for, for instance, a stock entry from, say English into Thai or Vietnamese, respectively, to make the system work for everyone in the institution.
How can we add, from the GUI, field values into different languages, that are ideally displayed in the right language as pre-selected by the user's preferred choice of language? Or is this not (yet) possible?

The system will take the user's language preference (set for each user), if none is found, it will take it from the incoming HTTP request at time of login, else the default language.

Thanks a lot for reply. Apologies for not having been clear with my request. What I meant was the following use case:
Vietnamese company - Top management staff speaks English, only, have language preference set in ERPNext to English.
Middle management preferss Vietnamese, with some patchy knowledge of spoken English, only. Hence they DO prefer to enter data in Vietnamese, and have activate the ERPNext user interface in Vietnamese as preferred language (let's assume the translation already exists).
New stock arrives, items (i.e. the field values!) are entered by Vietnamese middle management in Vietnamese, as per preferred language.
Top management wants, with English as preferred language, to see any such data entries in English. Hence, field values are carried through the system i several languages, as per user preferences.
For this to work, somebody has to translate the items originally entered in Vietnamese into English of course, and this translation of field values should be done via the GUI, where the original Vietnamese field entries can be easily seen.
Does this make more sense now?

Wouldn't this be an eminently useful feature to put on the wish list?
Other accounting/ERP systems offer this out of the box - and as you wish to address, as I blindly assume, emerging markets, this may prove very useful.
Would django-vinaigrette help?

Sure :) But beware of the already long pending list. Also it depends on the number of users asking for the feature.

We don't address any market in particular - the goal is to make it as robust as possible. I think the top 3 regions where ERPNext is used are India, Mid-East and US so far.

IMHO, multi-language capabilities are, at least in the medium run, an important feature for any management software. As an ERP system is, in the end, nothing but a data framework, it will be crucial to have entries done by users (read: fields) translatable, too. This audacious statement is based on some 15 years of global working experience with FLOSS ERP systems not only in frontier and emerging market economies, but also with international operations that span several languages at a time.
Of course, and by all means, stick this feature request on the backburner, but maybe you just don't want to forget it :-).
