Foot pedal issue

I am using an inexpensive USB Footpedal (Ikkegol) in an attempt to avoid vibrations triggering a Canon EOS M50 attached to a microscope.  Vibration is a huge issue, something I have worried alot about.

The foot switch works, I programmed it to output a character "s" which is the keyboard binding to trigger the camera.

The problem is that almost all of the time, the camera is triggered twice.  I think this is once for the down event (pressing the key) and again for the release.  It does not happen if I am careful, and barely tap on the footpedal; this device, however, is somewhat clumsy.

I suppose I will look into the code and see whether there is something special I can do to pause after the triggering event.  But I am not a programmer.

Is there anything I need to know about this?  My storage is filling up with duplicate images!

Thank you.  Entangle is great.

P.S. By the way, I have found some solutions to little issues I have encountered previously.  Some of them are covered in the screen shots section of the web page.  This is fantastic software.

I don't have a good idea why you'd see duplicate events. We don't directly control the key handling, just register with GTK that we want 's' as a key accelerator shortcut for a given action. I can't imagine GTK is broken in this regard, otherwise there would be many complaints already across every application using GTK.

Perhaps something odd about the footpedal config is causing the duplicate events to be injected.

If you launch the 'xev' and then press the foot pedal, see if it reports multiple events. If your OS uses wayland, then 'wev' app can also be tried.

Thank you.

I do not understand the dynamics, but it appears that slower/heavier keystrokes do this as well.  When I use a light toe touch it seems fine.  I have tried xev, and will do so again.  I do not wish to slow down the repeat sensitivity  or rate for the keyboard.  That might be the issue.  For now, all is well.

Thank you for this awesome application.  I use it almost every day.
