IIUC this setting has very few or zero users, and can be replaces with a `--pre-js` file.

Makes sense, but documenting how you replace it with a --pre-js file would be helpful. I'm in the unfortunate position of coming to Emscripten from the C world, and many things that are obvious to web application developers are baffling to me.

Sure thing, I'll maybe leave the `--pre-js` file itself checkin in an example somewhere.

BTW are you actually using this setting yourself?

Not at present, but I can't rule out using it for debugging.
