I'm looking at JS code size improvements for the wasm backend path now. Some initial improvements have already landed, like

These changes do change internal and undocumented APIs, so in theory you might notice them. As always with such changes a build with ASSERTIONS (including a normal -O0 build) should have clear error messages.
