Hi all,
I' m thinking about re-engaging with the plugin and (since I've been on the bench for quite a while) was curious what the base java version people are likely to use these days (it used to be 1.5, but there have been a plethora of releases since then), as well as the base eclipse version one is likely to encounter.  Do people these days march in step to the releases, or lag many releases behind?  Thanks,
   Mark

Hi Mark,

I won't use any Eclipse release that kills Emacs+.

Within that constraint, I tend to use the Javascript variant. I'm
currently with 2019-12, using Stan Cox's Emacs+ work. As per my
comments on the Eclipse Marketplace, there are issues
with cursor movements not visually selecting, and with
bindings being clobbered as one uses an Eclipse instance
for a couple of hours. The lack of visual selection is problematic
less b/c of the lacking visual feedback, but because some Emacs+
and (obviously) some  PyDev functions seem to take their cue on
region extent from the highlight, rather than from point/mark.

I don't use Java itself. So I'm happy to install any Java version
required by Emacs+, though Eclipse may, of course, impose its
own requirements.

Andreas

It's great to have you back.  I couldn't imagine not having this.

I use the latest Java available to run Eclipse, but use Java 8 to compile my projects.

Will you be able to recover your documentation web site?

I used to host everything out of google sites, but I'm not planning on bothering with a domain anymore, so I expect I will migrate everything to github pages as the spirit moves me.  The old pages are still available at this (very ugly) url: https://sites.google.com/a/mulgasoft.com/www/.  That is where the current update site is as well (eclipse marketplace has been updated to use this ugliness as well).  Thanks for helping to fill in during my absence.

Best plugin in the marketplace hands down. Thrilled to see it back!
