March 6
  • Bald Eagle Nest that we have watched for years. I have checked for any sign of activity in passing for three days.  No sign of action but it's a deep nest and time will tell if it is active and a bird could be down in and not visible.
  • Bird Feeders at home on the Passi Road.have only seen a couple pine grosbeaks a couple of days ago after having regular visits between 10 and 20 during the past months.  Have the pine grosbeaks left on their journey back north to their breeding range in Canada?
  • 30 redpolls visited the remaining food on the feeders and the ground yesterday and only 4 redpolls were seen this morning.  Getting close to the last to be seen this month.
  • Morning check at Shagawa River this morning at the CR 88 crossing.  10 trumpeter swans, 10 common goldeneyes, 3 mallards, 1 Canada goose
  • Only finishing off any food in the bird feeders and not having any out during the night that can potentially attract deer, raccoons, or other mammals.
Tomorrow morning, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the EFN Resource Center at 41 E Chapman Street above the NAPA store in Ely open to everyone:
  • Check out any library or other resources.
  • Update on Soudan Mine, Listening Point Foundation, Ely-Winton Historical Society, DNR Wildlife Management Areas, Ely Field Naturalist, Ely Dark Sky Festival, Ely Community Resource kids programs and other activities being planned for spring and the Ely Summer Times
  • Showing of Exploratorium: Palace of Delights documentary from 10 to 11am
  • Discuss plan for putting out American Kestrel nest boxes

Good afternoon~
I would love to continue being a part of this group.  Somehow, my school email is how I have been receiving information and I will be retiring in June.

Would you please add me to the group with the following email?

Thank you so much,

Bill - are you thinking bears are coming out soon and feeding the birds should end soon?  Leilani
