Found this caterpillar on a willow on Monday.

This looks like Acronicta insita, the Large gray Daggar Moth.  Nice photo of a lovely caterpillar.  I found it in the new updated Moths and Caterpillars of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan by Jim Sogaard.   This is one of the North Woods Naturalists Series published by Kollath + Stensaas Publishing.
