Should Elixir apply for the Sponsorship program?

There is a github match, maybe a campaign should be done?

As mentioned in other threads here, the language has gotten consistently stable throughout the years, specially now that all planned major features have been merged into the language.

My suggestion is to put the focus on the community and reach out to the projects that you enjoy and appreciate and ask how you can help them. Be it via sponsorships or in other ways. And if you are a company, consider sponsoring the Erlang Ecosystem Foundation.

The best way to support Elixir is by supporting the ecosystem. :)

Elixir may be complete or close to complete, and yes - community is
important to grow and support - but another brick is Erlang/OTP/Beam
itself that can definitely improve many things (and does!) and
possibly there is a need to sponsor that :)

Guess my point is that the Language Github could be used to fundraise and if the best use of funds is the Elixir Foundation then the money could be directly donated there while benefiting from the matching dollars.

Jose you and the core team can decide the best use of funds.

People can then donate to the community projects as they see fit of course.

Then I recommend the Erlang Ecosystem Foundation.

I don't think this should be the responsibility of the core team. We are really good with code and systems, it does not mean we will be good at managing funds. :)

That's fair enough.  Would you consider turning on that feature on the Repo then linking it to "Erlang Ecosystem Foundation"?

I think it would be an easy win to set up the Sponsorship button to point to Erlang Ecosystem Foundation. It is a feature most are familiar with and having a button send you to EEF right from the Elixir repo is a great way for new people to discover EEF. 👍
