Hello, I am Recep and after working on the electric vlsi program and saving it, when I want to enter it again, my application does not work. Can you help? I couldn't understand what caused the problem.

You will have to give more information.

What do you mean by "does not work"? What, exactly, happens when you run the program again, and what did you do to make this happen?

Hello Recep/Sir:

Our Electric community is composed of aggregate VLSI enthusiasts working on various systems and you can tell us basic Electric runtime log.

1. OS - operating system (.i.e Linux/Mac/Windows)
2. Java Runtime Version (i.e. Patch your Java with the latest stable release), set properly your environment path.
3. Electric v.9.07 (electricBInary or )

if you are a developer you might be running it in your favorite IDE and you can give us hint too.

Best Regards,

I sent you a message before, but it didn't go through, I'm trying again. I was designing the layout in the application. I was changing the dimensions of a component. When I did it hierarchically, I got an error, but I closed it without fixing the error. When I wanted to open it again, I couldn't open it

If I understand correctly, you are able to double left-click on electricBinary-9.07.jar and Electric opens just fine.  You are then able to click File -> Open Library and open your saved .jelib library file just fine.  Finally, when you double left-click on the layout in Electric (for example, like R_divider{lay} in screenshot), it is then giving you an error.  What is the error message?

Recep,

If you want to check that Electric on your system is opening a past saved layout.  The tutorial_1.jelib, used in the screenshot I previously sent, I downloaded from the webpage at [1].

I recorded a video of opening R_divider{lay}, if you would like to watch it.  The video should be at [2].  It was recorded using the Snipping Tool on Windows 11 [3].

First of all, thank you for your interest. My electric program is not running so I can't show you the error but the error was a length/width related error. I deleted the .jelib file, thinking that maybe if I deleted it, the application would work.

Actually, I was working on a layout and it was written that I had errors in the error tab, so I saved it and closed the application. I can't run the application again.

Recep,

You're still not making it clear what is going on. Here are some steps you can perform to describe more clearly:

(1) Double-click the application. Does it start up? If not, is there an error on the screen? Would it help to reboot the computer? Explain PRECISELY what you do and what you see.

(2) When Electric starts, it does NOT read the .jelib files automatically, so whether or not you've deleted them is irrelevant at this point. Assuming the program starts and you still have the .jelib file, use the File/Open command to read it back in. Report any error messages you see.

(3) If the original .jelib is missing and the program is running, can you reproduce the errors you had before? If so, explain IN PRECISE DETAIL exactly every step you took to make this problem happen.

I'm sorry to bother you, I will explain your questions in more detail.

First of all, when I click on the application, I do not get any reaction from the application, that is, it does not open.

Secondly, I permanently deleted the .jelib file because I thought the problem was caused by the file.

Finally, the errors I received were the same error I received at 7:50 minutes of the first tutorial video.

I'm also using Windows 10 and my Java version is 8.0. I hope I explained it well.

Okay, if Electric no longer runs at all, then there is a problem on your computer that is deeper than simple Electric functionality. Here are some possible things to do:

(1) Reboot.

(2) Re-download Electric in case the binary has become corrupted.

(3) Re-install Java in case that is the problem.

(4) This may be the problem if you set preferences in Electric that were dangerous: Wipe out Electric's preferences in:

        HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / JavaSoft / Prefs / com / sun / electric

See https://www.staticfreesoft.com/jmanual/mchap06-03.html for details.

Hello Recep,

My advice is if you can review and read the tutorial here if you are a newbie https://www.staticfreesoft.com/jmanual/ElectricManual-9.07.pdf page 69/400 cell size editing basics.
There are also settings which are not fixed on your preferences file like the layer template of your desired pdk and bringing some layout constraint on your side.
Hope this document will help.

I got a similar problem, it is caused by changing "Maximum permanent space from 0 to 512M". So make sure it is at zero before you close Electric.

Now the only way to solve it is to clear it from the registry. I suggest creating a restore point (just in case) then follow this procedure: https://www.mail-archive.com/electr...@googlegroups.com/msg00836.html.

Attached file contain all correct user preference setting for C5 and Ltspice ... as per the tutorials from : https://cmosedu.com/, just import and you are all set to start working!

Hope this helps!
