What's the major difference between ehcache2 and ehcache3? And, does there have some migration guides for using ehcache3?
Thanks.

Hi,

Major differences are:
  • Revamped API - bye bye Element, generics, implicit loader / writer and more
  • Focus on caching use cases
  • Offheap and Terracotta clustering support
Some 2.x features that we want to port are still missing but what's there should cover 80% of the classical caching use cases.

We need to create a migration guide ... or have someone start one ... hint hint ;-)
But in order to get started, have a look at the documentation at http://www.ehcache.org/documentation/3.2/ most likely the getting started part first.

Regards,
Louis

In the process of upgrading from 2 to 3. Does 3 handle shutdown differently? Specifically in regards to the ShutDownListener in web applications?

I searched the docs[1], migration guide[2], the issue trackers for 2/3 and could not find the same type of shutdown recommendation[3] as the 2.x line

You need to close the CacheManager in any way you want. It can be a ServletListener. With Spring, when it's a bean, it happens by magic.
