Too Many Navigations and Requires Scrolling for Primary Function

Hi,

I feel there were too many navigations on courses on edx leaving little place for the video. We could possibly do away with most hopefully leaving a cleaner video viewing page. Sorry, if not the right forum or being addressed. Let me know your thoughts if neither.

This is the correct forum if you are a software engineer and would like to make the change to improve the Open edX code to have cleaner navigation. This is a place for Open edX developers to propose ideas like this, and discuss the best way to implement it, from both a product and engineering perspective. If rough consensus is reached, you could implement it. 

This is not the correct forum if you'd like to suggest someone else make such a change. There isn't a forum for that. There are millions of Open edX users, and only hundreds of developers. There isn't capacity to have a forum where all users can feel heard. However, there are a number of consulting companies whom you could pay to work on such a change for you (OpenCraft, Racoon Gang, ExtensionEngine, and many others). 

Regarding this change specifically, improving the size of the video viewing portion is a change which has been discussed many times over the years, and no one has had the capacity to do it properly. It is a bit of work to do this properly, supporting the range of course design patterns and user usage patterns seen on edX.

Thanks Piotr for taking the time to explain to a newbie here. As you guessed it, I was trying the second one. I am a software engineer but, given my poor track record, it is unlikely that I will try to improve the situation even if it is for myself. Which does not mean that I will not try!
