Hi,

I'm new using Open EDX. I've just installed an Amazon Web Services Image of Open EDX provided by Bitnami. I'm interested on using it in production mode.

However, it is probably that in the future I will need to modify the code of the platform to include new functionalities and to add them to this production image.

How do I need to proceed? Do I need to install also the developer stack on my local computer to implement the changes? How to update the Amazon production platform with the changes I've implemented in my local developer stack?

Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the Open edX community! The workflow you mention is exactly right. We use the developer stack to do local development, and then we deploy the results to Amazon. There is a lot of online documentation available, so here are a few pointers to get you started.

First of all, this document describes how to install, configure and run both devstack and the full production stack:

When you are ready to develop your own features, you should start with the edX Developer's Guide:

You can then use the instructions on this wiki to update AWS:

I hope this helps to get you started. Please let us know if you have further questions.

Good luck!
