Problem after changing platform name into Arabic

Hi

After I changes the platform name into Arabic word and restated the lms, the edx goes down with "Uh oh, we are having some server issues.." message

I changed the "PLATFORM_NAME": in lms.env.json, cms.env.json and common/py. I already pulled the translation from transifex and added the Arabic language to the site so the user can switch to the Arabic verion. Ironwood edx used.

Hi ahmed,

I'm not pretty sure but probably you can manage this by converting your desired PLATFORM_NAME to escaped Unicode characters.

Use this tool or similar converters to do so.

Try it and post here or preferably in new openedx discussion forum if you succeed.

Thank you Mahyar, this solution really helped me, I tried it and worked.

I will move this solution to open edx discussion

Next I will word on making it appear in accordance to the user language, i.e. if a user set his language to English it appears English, like wise with the Arabic.

Hello Ahmed,

I'm really glad to hear that.

And about your new question I think it's not a good idea to translate your platform name.

Names should stay untranslated in any language. Ahmed is Ahmed in Arabic, English, Persian, etc.

Edx is so and doesn't change in other languages. I think you should choose a good name for your platform and introduce it to your users.

then call it with that name in every language your site will be served on.

For me it's satisfying to keep the name with one language, but my question is driven by the client's requirements, he present multi-language content for people from various countries.
