Discussion notifications are not working ( SMTP Configuration)

Hi, i have installed ginkgo.1. I haven't had problem with the configuration of registration email but i'm not receiving updates from Discussion. What should i do?

Hello Federico,

  As far as I know, the discussion digests are performed by additional service called notifier. Have you checked it's running (with /edx/bin/supervisorctl status) and configured properly?

Additional info could be found: 

- in notifier settings file: /edx/app/notifier/notifier_env

- in notifier logs: /edx/var/log/supervisor/notifier-*.log

I read about notifier and i start to configure notifier_env and notifier-celery-workers configuration but it isn't working yet. This is my log, it's strange that it try to connect with django.core.mail.backends.console.EmailBackend when I set everything up with smtp.

Hello Federico,

What's your setting for EMAIL_BACKEND in notifier_env? It should be 'smtp'.

If this setting is correct, have you restarted notifier workers with supervisor after modifications to notifier_env?
