Edx EASE research paper

I recently came across edx ease (https://github.com/edx/ease). I want to learn and contribute to this project. Is there any research paper or any other resource that can explain the approach taken in this project for essay grading? Please let me know.

Thanks for your response. While this paper does provide an overview of the approach taken to solve aes, I was looking for something with more implementation details related to the edx ease tool.
