Hi,

I am trying to create a course where we would like students in the class to collaborate with each other. Is this possible on edX platform?

Also, another thing we want to do is get responses from each individual student and than process it as a collective information group and show the result back. A good example would be word map where every student provides their input and we shown a complete word map by processing the response from every student. Is this doable?

Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Punit,
I’ll try to answer on both of your questions

1. Collaboration
Open edX has “Teams” functionality that helps create environment for collaboration.
Array of features for students collaboration is really wide.
What you can use on your own Open edX instance today out-of-the-box:
    - Calendar
    - Video conferences (Google Hangouts, Google Meet, Big Blue Button and a lot more)
    - Discussions with different level of access
    - Google collaboration tools: Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms
    - Surveys, polls
Of course this list is not completed - Open edX is very open platform and you can integrate almost everything you need.

2. Wordmap
Maybe “Word cloud” feature would help?
You can learn more following this link

Please provide more details so I can recommend some particular tools that would suit your needs best.
Hope some of our own materials would be helpful for you:

Thanks for the response.
I have another question:
Lets say my requirement is as follows:

- there are 5 students in a class
- I need to find the top 3 questions on a particular topic
- in order to do that, every student in the class is required to enter their 3 questions by a certain date
- after that, all the students need to come back and vote the top 3 questions from the bank of 15 questions (5 students, 3 questions entered per student) by a certain date
- the system will tabulate the results and show the top 3 questions from that

is this possible in edX out of the box? If not, can we customize/create an extension for it?

Thanks
