Best Regards,

Hi Tony,

For badges, there isn't anything existing that I know of currently, but be happy to hear that we have started working on two tasks for the edX Solutions team, that will add minimal/MVP support for Open Badges, as part of the certificate generation. Jonathan (cc'ed) is preparing a proper technical spec, which he will be posting on the ML soon:

For leaderboards, we are developing a LeaderBoard XBlock for the university of StGallen, which allows to rank users based on their scores in exercises, and upvotes in discussions. It's still at an alpha stage, and currently only handles courses with a limited number of users (it doesn't scale for courses with 10K+ users yet), but that might still be helpful to you:

I'm new to edX and want to know if there is any development in this area of points, badges, leaderboards - anything you know of? Thanks...

Hi

We have an app in beta phase (IOS and android)  based on Open edX that include gamification (points, rankings, badges,......). The students can work from the app or from Open edX directly.

Regards
Paco.

Hi

We are still in the testing phase and we can not send you any kind of presentation. The tests will be carried out with about 400 students in early October. In general terms it is a gamification system to support subjects taught under the "flipped classroom" methodology. And you can achieve the goals by working both from the Open edX platform as from the App. Since both systems are connected.

Regards
Paco.

Paco, I am looking into using the Edx Open platform for online learning and am very much interested in any progress you have made with the gamification functionality.
We see this as a key ingredient of any system we're to adopt.

Hi,

Raccoon Gang had recently completed an Open edX gamification project for a big company. It includes assigning gamification points for various course events, course recommendations, badges, gamification dashboard, etc. Besides it's easily extendable to receive signals from other sources - corporate auth system, for example (think "logged-in at or before 9am 30 days straight" badge)

The company is now considering options to open source it, but taking into account their size, i wouldn't expect it happen before summer - getting approvals from legal departments is hard :)

Meanwhile, we can help you build similar system if you like.
