The edx.org E-Commerce Team is proposing a new platform feature, called Programs.

This feature is being initially developed to support a specific edx.org product offering (XSeries), but we think it may be interesting to authors/designers who want to develop structured offerings that span across multiple courses using Open edX.

Thanks!

Jim, it appears that this page in the wiki requires login. Is it possible to make it more open?

This document has been moved to a less restricted place on the wiki:

https://openedx.atlassian.net/wiki/display/AC/Programs

Anyone should be able to view the material without logging in (but I believe you will need to log in in order to comment).

Cheers,
Jim

Hi,
The 'programs' feature seems very useful and we were trying to use it with Ficus- glad to report that we were able to make some progress. But it is not complete yet. In the meantime, I happened to read some documentation which says that the feature is now deprecated and will be available in future as Catalog service.

So the question is this: Is the 'programs' service, which is available as part of Ficus.2 installation, fully functional and ready for production use? We do not plan to go to ginkgo in near future so would really like to get this feature to work in Ficus. Just want to know so that we can take a call regarding whether to continue putting the effort in getting the feature to work.

Thanks!

The original post is rather old. Now there's something called course catalogue:

We are considering skipping Ficus and moving straight to Ginkgo.

Hi Aparna,

Can you tell me how you were able to use Programs (or XSeries) in Ficus, I haven't got any proper documentation on enabling programs in Ficus.

Thanks
Prabhanshu
