Great article Lawrence. I followed it to know more about edX theming.

Can you suggest me what could be good approach if I want to completely make my own design/theme from scratch?

I have markup ready but still not sure how I should convert it to Open edX theme.

hi Muhammad, there are a few Open edX themes available for free which you can use as guides for creating your own comprehensive theme. please keep in mind that these have not been updated for a couple of years and thus, in my opinion, they are only useful as architectural guides:
