Most of them require SSN or tax id , I'm US based, so I don't have any of those. any alternative?

Hi Leo,

I'm a former edX employee—I helped design and develop the E-Commerce Service—and current Stripe employee. Where is your company based? Stipe and other payment processors definitely allow non-U.S. entities to accept payments, but the offerings depend on where the entity is domiciled.

Nate mentioned Stripe Atlas which will create a U.S.-based company, but I completely understand your wanting to avoid that extra layer of work.

I'm happy to chat more. Feel free to reach me directly at clin...@stripe.com, or we can maintain this thread so that others in the community in a similar situation might also benefit.

Thanks Clinton, does Stripe work with companies based in Paraguay? I can’t find it on the website

Leo,

I checked with our Latin America team. Paraguay is on the roadmap, but the timeframe is closer to 2020. Is PayPal/Braintree an option for you, or are you specifically looking to accept credit card payments?

Most of the users have no clue about PayPal/Braintree
It has to be credit card :(
Btw, Paypal allows only Personal accounts for Paraguay.

That’s unfortunate. I’m not finding much on Google when I search for other card processors. How are other online merchants processing card payments?

If there are other payment processors, your best option may be to create plugin for edX to integrate with one of the other processors. I’m happy to offer some guidance on that work.

Hi

I am in Canada and recently set up a payment processor using the paypal with paypal business account for my company use. The paypal provides  not only the paypal account and but also payment gateway which support that for users use their credit cards like visa, master, etc to puchase somthing without a paypal account. That is why we chose the paypal.

For one of our customers, we modified Otto (edX’s e-commerce platform based on Django Oscar) to work with Payflow Pro as a payment processor.

Payflow Pro is a product available from PayPal that keeps the user on the site and doesn’t redirect them to PayPal.com. It works with all major credit cards.

basically, it's a monopoly, online payments with credit card are made through one company
they charge
Initial setup of $300
+ $40 monthly fee
+ 10% of every transaction

Paypal doesn't offer service for business in Paraguay, in fact there is no way to link your paypal account with a local bank, you can only load money with credit card, but no withdrawals.

Sorry to hear that paypal does not offer payment service in Paraguay. However for your information I can link my bank account into my paypal account now and works fine.
