Dan

The example from HL7 should be used to structure “No Known Problems”.

The code used is for a concept called  “Problem”, hence the error message.

My document DOES have a no know problem observation structure.
What in particular does the validator not like about it?

To clarify, I have a "negated" problem (64572001). If I was to instead have a "negated" No Known Problem, would that not be "No No Known Problem" thus actually stating that there are problems?

Interesting observation, I think it might be good to table your interpretation of the example for HL7 SDWG this week.

We are looking for the Code to represent the concept of Problem as shown below in the example.

<value xsi:type="CD" code="55607006"

                            displayName="Problem"

                            codeSystem="2.16.840.1.113883.6.96"

                            codeSystemName="SNOMED CT">

Hi, Dan,

What is the use case for negating ‘No Known Problems’? (i.e. stating no no known problems)

Best,

Brett

Based on the wording in the test, I expected that the desired code was:
No current problems or disability (situation)
SCTID: 160245001
Since negationInd is an independent element from the code, setting it to "true" means "Patient does not have this, did not do this, does not take this, etc".

So saying code 55607006 (Problem) negated would translate to "Patient does not have a Problem".
However if the code was 160245001, (No current problems) negated would translate to "Patient does not have No current problems".

Thanks, I would expect double negation would be against best practice.

There is a work group HL7 working on negation.

Next call is 10/19 if you wish to pursue further:
