Clarification on Birth Sex Requirements for CCDA & USCDI v3

Hi Team, 

We need a clarification on Birth Sex across ONC, USCDI v3, and the HL7 C-CDA R4.1 Implementation Guide. Below is the summary; 

ONC 2015 Edition (Current Rule – Expires Jan 1, 2026):  The older “Birth Sex” criteria supports only:

•             Male

•             Female

•             Unknown 

C-CDA R4.1 Implementation Guide: Birth sex (Administrative Gender) (in header) with only:

•             Male

•             Female 

VSAC– Birth Sex; updated Birth Sex valueset: Below are the required values;

•             Male

•             Female

•             Unknown

•             Other

•             Asked but Declined 

So can we follow the latest VSAC Birth Sex valueset that supports USCDI v3  ???????

Be sure to differentiate administrative gender in header from birth sex in social history (being deprecated) and USCDIv3 Sex in social history.
