Hello Eastern Colorado USPSA Section Members,

There was an email that went out Sunday afternoon from USPSA regarding the upcoming 2026 Nationals matches (Race Gun and Factory Gun). In case you did not receive that email, I have attached it and pasted it below. It describes the Nationals schedule for 2026 and how slots will be awarded for Performance-based and Activity-based results. Last November, I distributed the Section Qualifier Series results to you all, but for your reference, I am attaching it again to this email.

The schedules for slot distribution will be as follows:

Race Gun

?       Performance, Section, and Independent Club slots will be sent on February 1st

?       Pre-registration will open on March 7th

?       Open registration will open on April 18th

Factory Gun

?       Performance, Section, and Independent Club slots will be sent out by March 1st

?       Pre-registration opens on April 4th

?       Open registration opens on May 16th

When I receive the ECO Section slots on February 1, I will send another email to let you all know what we received and how they will be distributed among the divisions. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Germaine

The 2026 Nationals

USPSA Headquarters
Jan 25, 2026

The USPSA Nationals for 2026 will be split into two separate events. This follows the decision that was previously made to reduce the number of events from three to two, stacking the divisions based on their reported activities. The two most popular divisions, Carry Optics and Limited Optics, were paired with the remaining seven divisions to create the Factory Gun and Race Gun matches the same as it was in 2025. The division activity for 2025 stacked up as follows:

  • Carry Optics – 37%
  • Limited Optics – 28%
  • Open – 13%
  • PCC – 8%
  • Limited – 5%
  • Production – 5%
  • Single Stack – 2%
  • Revolver – 1%
  • Limited 10 – 1%

For the 2026 season the locations flip for the matches with Race Gun moving to Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, OH in August. Factory Gun Nationals will follow in September in Hurricane, UT at the Southern Practical Shooting range. Each match will consist of thirty six thirteen person squads for the main match (468 slots).

Due to the high demand for slots a decision was made to offer a very limited number of early match squads. For members trying to register during open registration, approximately six squads (72 slots) will be able to compete on the two days leading up to the main match. These squads will have assigned Range Officers who will move with the squads throughout those two days. The competition will run all day long, which is different from the three-day main match that is broken into three half-day sessions.

The Vortex Optics Race Gun Nationals Presented by Kimber will pair Open, PCC, Limited, Limited Optics, and L10 together heading to the Cardinal Shooting Center. As the name implies, all the Race Gun divisions will be grouped together for competition in August. The Early match is August 19th - 20th followed by the main match August 21st - 22nd - 23rd. The Race Gun name refers to the high capacity, less restrictions and customizations associated with these 5 divisions.

The SIG Sauer Factory Gun Nationals Presented by Berry’s Bullets will follow in September with the early match on the 16th and 17th and the main match 18th - 19th - 20th. This match is for USPSA members who want to compete in Carry Optics, Single Stack, Revolver, or Production Division. The name "Factory Gun" refers to the off-the-shelf nature of these divisions, which have more restrictions on modifications allowed.

Slots for both events are generated according to the Slot Policy, based on Performance Earned and Activity-Based criteria. Performance Earned slots are awarded to members based on their finish in a division, class, or category at the previous year’s Nationals or their Area Championship. Up to the top ten competitors in each division at the previous year's Nationals will earn a returning preregistration invitation for the match in which that division is recognized and bases on the number of participants.

There is one slot awarded per every ten participants, up to ten per division for Nationals, and one slot per recognized division for each Area Championship in a person’s home area. Similarly, a slot is awarded to the top Class and Category winners in each division from Nationals as well as each Area Championship from the prior year. Recognition is based on Appendix A2 of the USPSA rulebook. A Division and Class must have at least ten participants in a Division, ten in a Class, and five in a Category to be recognized.

Each Section and independent club (clubs not associated with a Section) is awarded slots based on reported activities from the previous year. According to current USPSA bylaws, Sections must award slots based on their Section bylaws, which should always consider placements in shooting events. Additionally, club membership and assistance at events may also be considered, but slots may never be awarded by lot. Section bylaws must be submitted to the Area Director and the National office.

These slots are generated and sent to the individual Performance Earners, Sections, and Independent clubs each year following a set schedule ahead of Pre-registration and Open registration.

Race Gun

  • Performance, Section, and Independent Club slots will be sent on February 1st
  • Pre-registration will open on March 7th
  • Open registration will open on April 18th

Factory Gun

  • Performance, Section, and Independent Club slots will be sent out by March 1st
  • Pre-registration opens on April 4th
  • Open registration opens on May 16th

Members who earned a slot will be able to sign up during the Pre-registration period. The slot codes will expire when Open registration begins. The remaining slots, based on unused pre-registration slots, will be available for members to sign up during Open registration.

If you didn’t earn a slot, you should double-check with your Section Coordinator on how activity-based slots are being distributed within your Section.

Hi Luke,

It means you are #5 on the list for your division, it does not mean you have automatically earned a slot. I have not received any information about how many slots we are receiving for our Section, so i don't have any codes. (Please read the email from USPSA in its entirety; I will not receive any slot codes for Race Gun until Feb 1.) Last year we received 9 total for Factory Gun, and 6 slots for Race Gun. Those slots had to be split along the relevant divisions in our section for each of those Nats. I imagine the total number of slots we will receive will be similar this year, but I won't know for sure until I get the email about the specifics from USPSA.

Thank you for letting me know of your interest in Nats for your division. I will send out more information when I get it about the slot distributions.

Thanks,
Germaine

Subject: Re: 2026 USPSA Nationals Initial Information

Hello Germaine!
I just saw this email and noticed I am listed as #5 in limited optics. Does this mean that I have earned a pre-registration slot for the 2026 nationals? If so? Can you please tell me how i get the registration code that is needed for the sign ups?

I would like to compete at the race gun nationals again this year. So any info on how to get that registration code, is greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!
