Hi, we are Xen & Natasha.

A few months ago we bought an ebbtide 36, built in 1995.

Although it has rust on deck (only on deck, the interior of the boat is perfect, both in carpentry and hull) and there are things to repair, in about two years and with budget we want to have it ready for our trip to northern europe, baltic, iceland, etc.

So, if there is anybody here we'll be so happy to share and ask questions (believe us, we have a lot) ;)

Hi Xen & Natasha,
I built a 33ft Ebbtide. I launched her in 2002. I lived on her for the next 15 years and sailed her across the Atlantic to the Carribbean and South America from the UK and back again three times. The Ebbtide is a very well designed ocean going yacht (Alan Pape knew what he was doing when he designed her). She will look after you and you will learn to trust her.
I rigged Moontide as a cutter sloop. I found this to be a very versatile rig.
Cheers,
Chris.

Hi, we're very happy that this group is still active :)

We knew its good aptitudes before buying it, our idea is to sail and live several years in the north of Spain, France, Baltic, and if we feel like it; Iceland and Greenland. Yes, totally agree we need learn how to sail with her, we have few experience (med, atlantic, and years sailing,, but never more than 3 moths and always in fiber, such as: gib sea, Beneteau, and 80's IOR ;) we wanted loong keel and boat for living and sailing during years without rushing, with calmness, comfort, safety, etc.

The condition of the boat is correct, some small problems with rust but only on the deck (of course in the holes of the railings, etc... and from outside to inside) the bilges, linings and the rest of the hull are totally clean, there is no rust, and the carpentry and other details are in very good condition, my only concern is the base of the mast, the mast has a very very sharp angle, and it is not due to rust in shrouds or rigging, we guess it's about the years of rigging and the rust in the base, inside we couldn't see anything wrong (bilge, roof and strut seem to be in perfect condition, not so the steel plate where the mast rests) I trust that this is all it is, and with welding and a new plate, in addition to the rigging, it will be solved.

Of course we have a lot of questions ;)

Greetings!!!
