Activity from this group has diminished lately and I am hoping there are still folk in ITE sitting at this virtual table.
I am currently updating the bibliography/research pages on my site and wondered if any colleagues are in contact with or belong to EAPRIL?
The CLP website is very large and I am very grateful to colleagues who point out bad links. Sometimes activities disappear and miraculously turn up again.
I have just rediscovered a chapter I wrote with Susan Hart (Learning without Limits) for a book "Preventing Difficulties in Learning" published in 1987. In some ways it shows its age: ESL instead of EAL, first year secondary instead of year 7, but what it has to say is just as relevant to current inclusion issues. What do you think?
Best wishes,
Stuart

Thanks for responding. I am revisiting the history of the project and doing just that. I'm presenting my findings so far at NATE conference in July. I am discovering that work I did in the seventies in critical languages is still bearing fruit and having an impact. Very cheering!
I'm putting the results on the CLP history page:

Yes, Stuart, so much of this is still so relevant today. I have mixed feelings about that. Might it be worth a bit of an update and a republish nearly 40 years on as there are some developments that might warrant inclusion eg the use of icts and links with current practice work, which might make it an easier read for teachers working in today’s classrooms?

Stuart

I just want to say that the work you have done over the years has been invaluable to our profession and has helped thousands of children in ways we will probably never fully appreciate. The long-term benefits of collaborative language, literacy and curriculum development fostered by your practical work and tireless advocacy will have had a profound impact and I expect will continue to do so for many more years to come.

All the very best with reorganising the archives.

Rightly said Jonathan!

We do well to remember and celebrate the foundational work done by Stuart, and indeed  many others, over the years. It would save quite a bit of wheel-reinvention!

Good luck with revisiting the CLP history and with your presentation at the NATE Conference, Stuart.

All best wishes,

Frank

Thank you Jonathan. It has been very rewarding work and continues to be so. Someone said recently that I helped to put the IC in NALDIC!

Hi Stuart,

We love the Collaborative Learning resources in Rochdale and always promote them.  Just last week I shared the Romeo and Juliet character cards activity with a member of the RANS Team at the council - and they thought the resource was brilliant.  :)

And although I don't specifically use your materials these days Stuart, I certainly take your influence everywhere I go with the National Literacy Trust.
For example, we have a great course called Talk for Learning that is full of Collaborative Learning!

Thanks Catharine. I don't see the materials as mine rather as ours developed by colleagues collaboratively when there was time to plan together. The big question we asked back in 1983. Is still relevant. I wrote the chapter for a book back in the eighties with Susan Hart and looking at it now I don't see any reason to change what we wrote. Keep up the good work.
