Hi UKLA Members,
I'm excited to let you know about our autumn campaign for primary school children across the UK - Step
inside your story.
To celebrate inclusivity, we're inviting young writers to put themselves at the heart of their own stories, with the aim of showing that anyone can be the author or hero of a book. We're thrilled that Joseph Coelho is helping us launch the campaign, with two free live-streamed events for schools and teachers.
Celebrate inclusivity in children’s books, with the British Library this autumn
Join a host of authors and illustrators, including Waterstones Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho, to inspire your children to write stories about themselves.
To help nurture well-being and storytelling skills, the British Library is inviting young writers to make concertina books and star in their own stories. Discover a range of top tips, videos and resources, and book your place for these wonderful free live-streamed events.
Free online workshop for schools, in partnership with Seven Stories
29 September, 11.00 - 12.00
Join authors Joseph Coelho, Rose Robbins and Joanna Brown for a fun-filled live session to kick-start your students’ book-making adventures.
Free online CPD event for teachers and librarians
29 September, 16.00 - 17.00
All children should be able to see themselves reflected in books. It's key to their self-esteem and engagement with reading. Book your place for this twilight session, with children’s authors and inclusion experts, to explore ways of creating an inclusive reading environment at your school.
Share children’s work on Twitter, tagging @BL_Learning, or email childre...@bl.uk between 26 September and 28 November 2022 for a chance to win book tokens for your school.
With best wishes
Andrea
