Hi All,

First off, a huge thankyou to all the contributors to this group. I have been learning to program in E-Prime and have picked up an enormous amount just from browsing other people's queries here. I have *almost* enough now for the study I want to run. However, I would ideally like to present a variable financial reward (contingent on RT in a slide object) alongside other info in a feedback slide.

I know it's possible for an inline object to refer to a slide object/text object etc, but is there a way to make an inline object "speak to" the smaller sub-objects in a feedback slide? I have been unable to do this so far and I wonder what I'm missing.

Many thanks!

Huw

Hi Huw,

It is possible, but not as easy as one would like. Basically, if I remember correctly, it involves referencing the slide (dim x as slide, set x =, etc),  capturing and casting the “children” objects, and then changing these. I think there’s an example somewhere in E-Prime with the click-able objects example experiment, such a thing would generally require a similar procedure.

That said: this is an awful amount of work for what you can generally, easily do by 1) adding attribute references to the slide, 2) using multiple slide states.

Best,

Michiel Spape

(also, we have examples of this kind of problem in the E-Primer book, as well as an economic paradigm:

Hi Michael,

This response to your response is egregiously late. I have had a long period of time away from this experiment and working on a different project, but I just wanted to say thankyou for taking the time to reply, this is very helpful.

Best,

Huw
