No assetstore shown on angular web interface after upgrade / DSpace 6.3 to 7.0

Dear DSpace Colleagues,

I am able to login to web interface and old communities/collections appears but no items is visible, even when adding new items there is no collections appearing on the list to choose, please see all attached screenshots, also advice if there is any re-indexing script that I need to run, on older versions of DSpace for items to show on interface, I was running index update  scripts coming with DSpace software, please advise.

Please check for errors in either the UI or backend logs. Here's a guide for that:

It's difficult to provide advice on fixing this problem if we don't know where the problem resides.  The error messages you find will give us more information around whether the issue is your assetstore, Solr, backend configs, or some other issue.

Feel free to send the error message(s) you find to this list and hopefully we can provide advice.

Hi Tim,

Please see attached log file with UI errors. note that our Solr is running locally on the same server running DSpace 7 and it is not accessible out of that server, do we need to have solr to be opened on firewall, only accessible within our network or accessible on the Internet ? the only accessible solr link is : http://localhost8983:solr

Hi Lewatle,

Your one screenshot shows a ton of CORS errors.  That's a common issue, see this for help: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Installing+DSpace#InstallingDSpace-%22XMLHttpRequest..hasbeenblockedbyCORSpolicy%22or%22CORSerror%22or%22InvalidCORSrequest%22

To answer your question on Solr... Solr does NOT need to be publicly available/accessible, it needs to only be accessible to the DSpace backend, so that the REST API can trigger indexing/reindexing in Solr.  The UI only makes calls to the REST API (and never directly to Solr).

Hi Tim and DSpace Colleagues,

I have set  dspace.ui.url to https://wiredspace-extra.wits.ac.za/home in local.cfg and also in dspace.cfg  then restarted Tomcat. Items are still not shown on web interface, please see screenshot for web interface, local.cfg, with dspace log and tomcat log files attached.

You seem to be seeing the "No _links section found at.." error which we have tips/hints about in our Common Installation Issues at:

As of today, on the "main" branch of the UI, you can also find a brand new "yarn config:check:rest" script which can test the connection between Node.js and your backend REST API to provide you more information on any connection errors or problems.  This script will also be released in 7.1 (due next week).

I will upgrade to version 7.1 when it comes out next week, will upgrade from first step if  still gives problems, next step will be to run fresh install.
