how is an item marked as a request item type

I don't quite see it in the doc.

In other words, how do I mark a certain item to be a request item?

Hi Jose,

bitstream links will render as links to the request a copy form when:

1. request a copy has been enabled

2A. There is no read policy for the logged in user

OR

2B. The read policy for the logged in user has a start date in the future

Note that its bitstream specific behaviour, not item specific behaviour. You can perfectly have items with both freely downloadable bitstreams, and bitstreams under embargo that will trigger the request a copy.

Technical hints from my team (Tnx Maria Verdonck, Yana De Pauw, Kristof DeLanghe):

• If item is restricted-resource and request copy is enabled (aspects/ViewArtifacts/sitemap.xmap) => ItemRequestForm is shown: at handle/*/*/restricted-resource with optional ?bitstreamId= if redirected (BitstreamReader) => Where gets checked if user had read permission on bitstream
• Read policy info is added to ItemAdapter which add embargo info to bitstream
• xsl that renders the link will check for this additional info.
